This my friend Maryann's story of how Stanely joined their family:
I work with seniors, supporting them to live independantly in their homes for as long as possible. One day, a client told me she had to give up her beloved Stanley, a 15 year old part-Himalayan-part-something-else-fluffy ...cat. She was no longer able to afford his food/litter and could not physically cope with the litterbox maintenance. When she looked into the local humane society, they said at Stanley's age he was unadoptable and would be "put down" rather than fostered/adopted. He is a beautiful, gentle, healthy and absolutely delightful companion - and this news broke my client's heart and sent her into a depression. Coincidentally my husband I had just decided that our children were ready for the responsibility of a pet, and considered adopting a cat in the near future. Well once I came home with Stanley's story, there was no doubt that our family needed to take him home. We are so lucky that Stanley found us - he is the most absolutely perfect and lovable family friend - we love him to bits and can't believe our luck that he is ours now.
